The estate in the Oertzetal can look back on an eventful history:

The great power of hospitality has always been the goal of the innkeepers of Hof Nr. 1 in Oldendorf.

In addition to agriculture, which had been practiced since 1438, the parlor also served as a tavern for coachmen and raftsmen who brought their goods from Hermannsburg to Hanover.

With the rafting that had been carried out on the Oertze since 1750, the importance of gastronomy in Oldendorf increased.

In 1869, rafts passed through the dock every day, steered by hard-drinking journeymen. Since hard work and social gatherings were already part of life at that time, the chronicle records the "strong as a bear" Prallen, who always worked in piecework and whose biggest bill was 36 groschen, which was the equivalent of 6 liters of liquor at the time.

With the construction of the railway from Hamburg to Hanover in 1850, rafting lost its economic basis, but city dwellers now had the opportunity to take a trip to the Lüneburg Southern Heath.

The then house number 1 changed from a farm operation to a pure restaurant.

While preserving the atmosphere of a Lower Saxon estate, a gastronomic gem was created that is one of the gastronomic “highlights” in the Celle region.

in the Lüneburg Heath. Our family-run, country-style house in the small district of Oldendorf creates an atmospheric setting for culinary evenings in the restaurant as a guest or as a holidaymaker in our hotel.
